Hello from Squirrel class!
My name is Mrs Lynham and I am the Squirrel class Teacher, teaching a mixed Reception/Year 1/ Year 2 of 18 children in our class alongside our wonderful teaching Assistants Mrs Fowles and Miss Clark.
Our classroom is very exciting and purposeful environment with a mixture of whole class teaching, group work, continuous provision, practical activities and unique learning opportunities for the children. We have an outdoor learning space that is used every day and we provide a curriculum that is interesting and creative. Our Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum whilst Year 1 and 2 are taught in line with the National Curriculum.
Our learning is topic based and we try to incorporate our theme as much as possible through our topic lessons, English lessons and Continuous Provision so that the children can immerse themselves in what they are learning about.
Our class is one big family where everyone looks after each other. As a mixed age class the older children have the opportunity to support and nurture the younger ones and help them to learn and understand the rules of being at school. The older children are amazing at taking on this responsibility and are great role models. We aim to nurture a love and passion for learning whilst providing a firm foundation to ensure all children reach their maximum potential. We embed the 5 Eastcombe School Values at the heart of everything we do and encourage our children to always be kind and respectful to one another.
Every day is different in Squirrel class but we always have fun!
