Welcome to Eastcombe Primary School. We hope that you find here all the information necessary to gain a good insight into what happens in the school on a day-to-day basis and over the course of the year.
Our school vision states that we encourage all our children to “Aim High, Believe and Achieve” and that is what we firmly believe we are doing. Having small year groups means that pupils at the upper end of the school shoulder real responsibility – as house captains, sports ambassadors, charity ambassadors, school council members, friendship buddies and so on – while even younger ones are expected to take an active part in their learning. We hope that, when they leave us, pupils will have gained a thirst for learning that they will continue at secondary school and on into adulthood. We follow the five core values of ‘Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Kindness and Collaboration’,
Pupils achieve well at this school, both academically and in other ways – for example developing musical and sporting prowess or in becoming responsible citizens. Pupils of all abilities make good progress academically, socially and emotionally; we regularly receive very positive reports from secondary schools about pupils from Eastcombe Primary School.
We offer a topic based curriculum where learning is cross curricular and engaging for all pupils. Each class publish their termly topic plan on their page of the website. If you require further details on our curriculum, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
Again, being small means that we have a family atmosphere running through the school; pupils know each other and the staff well and this means that the pupils feel confident to air any concerns or worries. Our ethos is very much supportive of the family friendly feel, where each child is valued and their strengths, wherever they lie, are celebrated.
Behaviour is excellent and pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions.
We can say with confidence that pupils enjoy coming to school each day; the active parents’ association (The ESA) encourages parents to get to know each other well and, as a result, the school fulfils a vital role in the local community. I welcome you to Eastcombe Primary School.
