Little Extras

This week I would like to write about the ‘little extras’ we add into the National Curriculum at Eastcombe Primary School.
We hold the belief that children come to school not just to learn but to have fun, expand their experiences and make magical memories. With this mantra our staff enrich the curriculum in an ever increasing range of diverse, exciting and interesting ways. We join in different local events, take learning beyond the boundaries of the school playground and offer unique opportunities.
Looking back through the diary there are so many ‘extras’ we have offered since September and we are only half way through the school year!
To name a few we have;
– had visits from Police officers, Fire officers, NSPCC, KNEX workshops, a antarctic explorer and a team of magistrates.
– visited the Saatchi Gallery, the British Museum, the Pantomime and the local countryside.
– held charity dressing up days, cake sales, book week, sports relief week, celebrated Children in Need and hosted a Y6 fundraiser meal at Egypt Mill.
– entered the wildlife quiz, Mock trial and KNEX challenge.
– been on welly walks, tended the allotment, used the village views in art lessons, had Christmas crafts week.
– supported many ESA events such as the Christmas Bazaar, Quiz, Bikeathon and Carols around the Christmas Tree.
– performed with Young Voices and sang to the ‘Friday Club’.
– taken part in numerous sporting events and House competitions.
Phew…looking ahead we still have so much more to come. Highlights will include the VE village celebrations, further school trips, the country dancing festival, the annual production and so on…
Thank you to all the staff who are committed to giving our children memories to last a lifetime. Keep following our Facebook page to find out what we are up to.
Eastcombe Primary School still has a few places left in EYFS and KS1. If you are looking for a primary school place and would like to look around our wonderful school, please contact the office to make an appointment on 01452 770227.
