Lighting of the Tree

On a cold and crisp night, the village and school community came together for the annual carol singing and revealing of the stained glass windows at Eastcombe Primary School. The Christmas tree is dressed in red ribbons, each placed by a member of the school family and local community whilst making their Christmas wish. There was a countdown to switch on the tree lights, with the oldest and youngest child in the school given the honour. The Stained glass windows were revealed whilst singing ‘We Three Kings’ and they look spectacular. These windows are designed by Mr Westley and made each year by the children in Years 5 & 6.

After more carols on the playground a magical lantern procession made its way from the school to the village green where the Christmas Tree lights were switched on by Father Christmas. There was music and singing provided by the Hilltop Band and Shanty Singers. Mulled wine and mince pies from The Lamb were enjoyed by many. This was a wonderful community event and festive start to December. We are very much looking forward to next year!
