Community events and learning this week.

This week has been a lovely one with children really enjoying their learning and contributing to the community.
We started the week with our Christmas tree light switch on and the unveiling of the stained glass windows. This was a lovely event bringing community members of all ages together. We ended the week in a similar vein with our oldest children attending the local Friday Club and singing to the older generations. We sang carols and even had audience participation. Again, a magical event bringing people together at this special time of year.
Our youngest children are busy practising their nativity with enthusiasm. They are looking forward to performing it soon for their friends and families.
Learning doesn’t ever stop and lessons this week have included money, shape, area and perimeter, co-ordinates, discovering about Europe and France in particular, playing glockenspiels, art, RE, Science, spellings and many many more!! We have had a hugely successful week with our 99 club results. This week more children than ever before either moved up a level or beat their all-time greatest scores. From Squirrel class to Owl class the children are doing incredibly well with their times tables, keep learning them at home everyone.
In particular the children are loving using the ipads and the oh-bots. We are all practising our coding skills and using technology in innovative and exciting ways. Mr King is thrilled with how much the children have gained from hiring this new technology and we hope to use this resource again soon.
Next week will be a busy one with the swimming gala, a workshop for Y6 parents on arithmetic, a workshop on personal safety for Owl class, the whole school pantomime trip, our last street dance lessons and Christmas Jumper day on Friday. I look forward to sharing news of our adventures next weekend. Keep following the Facebook page and website to find out more about our school.
