Weekly news!

The children have thoroughly enjoyed this week. It has again been a week of sporting opportunity, creativity and learning.
Squirrel class have been learning all about animals and have been enjoying observational drawing. They looked carefully at a squirrel, a badger and a hare, making sure their drawings were as accurate as possible. This work will make a lovely display. Squirrel class have been working hard in Maths, especially learning how to tell the time.
Hedgehog class have started learning about the Romans. They used both the computers and library books to find out about Roman houses, clothes, food and entertainment. Their findings will be presented on posters. Hedgehog class also recorded their Ocarina playing to share on Facebook!
Owl class have all taken cuttings from a Geranium to investigate how plants grow. We will be watching the progress of these cuttings over the weeks ahead. This week the children have also been learning how to describe their favourite activities and hobbies in French. Owl class have also been writing stories based on a short film, The Lighthouse. These stories are emotive, powerful and full of suspense.
A selection of Y3-6 girls took part in the Stroud Country Dancing Festival. This was held at Stratford Park and involved 400 children dancing to a live band. It was a wonderful, yet tiring evening. Thank you to Mrs Monk for organising the dancers and teaching them the routines.
Next week brings a new sport! We will be learning how to play Dodgeball using coaches from Atlas Sports. This is preparation for our younger children taking part in a Stroud Schools Dodgeball festival. Coming up is also Quad Kids at Archway, another sporting opportunity.
The ESA have organised a Race Night at the Village Hall on Saturday 11th May. This will be a fun evening of horseracing, food, drink and fundraising. Come along and support the school in a social evening for all the family. Further details on Facebook or posters.
That’s all for this week. If you want to find out more about our very special school then please be in touch. Mrs Jones
